At the beginning of last week, my left eye started irritating me. It felt like a side effect of stress or overworking, which I’ve experienced before, but I didn’t feel like I was working more than usual (obviously a lie), so I kept working (the opposite of what I should). Several more days passed and the irritation still existed. Rubbing my eye made it worse. Splashing my face with water didn’t help. I thought maybe it was less about the work and more about the screen time, so I took a break from my computer and phone for the rest of the day. The next morning, my eye still felt irritated. I was frustrated. I thought maybe I need an even longer break. Maybe this is a point in my life where I learn a new limit to my capacity. I stood in front of the mirror for a few minutes, thinking about my future with a constantly irritated eye. Then, I took a closer look. I only realized in that moment that one of my eyelashes had been bent backwards and was etching my eye like a record needle. I straightened it out and my eye has felt fine ever since.
