Jen's Black-Eyed Susan

I accompanied Jen at Read Street Tattoo Parlour as she acquired her fourth tattoo. To go along with her PA ink of a Pennsylvania Dutch hex sign, she had Charlie Foos draw a fancy Black-Eyed Susan, the Maryland state flower. Hopefully, next time she goes for one, I’ll have a solid idea for my first—I just can’t commit to anything yet.

Stefan Sagmeister – designer heartthrob – at MICA

Jen graduated from MICA yesterday. Of course, it was a very special day, but even more so because she met the inspiration for her thesis—Stefan Sagmeister. He spoke at commencement (video below) and met with a small group of students. I’m certain I’ll find fancy hand-lettering all over her sketchbooks saying, ‘Jen Sagmeister’… which is actually what she titled this photo on Facebook.

3 years of support and inspiration

3yearanniversary

Today marks three years for Jen and me. She’s been my source of inspiration since the day we met and I wouldn’t be where I am now if it weren’t for her support and encouragement. She means everything to me and I simply can’t wait to see where the next three years take us.

Two feet of snow and the Canon 50mm f/1.2L

Jen in the snow

Yesterday, Jen asked if we would still be able to go out today because of the snow forecast. I said, “I don’t see why not. It’s probably going to flurry.” Two feet of snow later, we decided to take the camera out for a walk. It was a lot colder than expected, so we didn’t stay out very long. At f/2.8 with my new 50mm f/1.2, I was able to snag a few beauties of Jen.
