InfiniteUSB by Gonglue Jiang
Anyone who owns a laptop knows the pain and suffering that comes from a lack of USB ports. I, myself, rely on the additional USB ports on the external display as well as a USB octopus. Even then, I don’t have enough. Lucky for us, the world is full of creative industrial designers who come up with perfect solutions, like InfiniteUSB. Unlucky for us, it’s still a concept. Regardless, I will gladly pick up a set when they come to fruition, as it is one of the best solutions I’ve seen yet.

So awesome, why hasn’t anyone thought of this before!
Looks cool, but is limited due to the amount of power that can be delivered through one port. You could stack maybe four of these without issue, then you would need a power adapter, which I see has been thought about – but the after a certain point you are just as well off with a single cable to a permanently setup USB hub which will also be tidier, cheaper and safer. Can you imagine the disaster that would occur with a cable snag pulling on several of these at once?
One last thought, with six or so current different USB plug types will the colour be associated with the plugtype, or available as a snapin to differentiate – otherwise there will be colour X plugtype separate packaging which is never any good for commercialisation.
@Mark — My thoughts exactly. I figure the power issue wouldn’t be much of a problem if I only add an additional plug to each port. They would definitely come in handy for that scenario where I must decide between my card reader or my Wacom tablet—like deciding between a child.
